Job Description

American Boiler & Mechanical is currently hiring for a Pipefitter in the commercial and industrial field. We are a locally owned family company in business for over 50 years.

Job Summary

  • Ensure a safe working environment by using job site inspections, customer safety training/procedures, appropriate task assignment, etc.
    • Stop work in unsafe conditions
    • Plan and discuss high risk tasks with owner and ABM managers/others on site
  • Ability to thread and prepare piping for other connection types such as grinding, beveling, cleaning etc. Proficient welding ability preferred.
  • Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, pvc/cpvc, copper tube, and other types of piping
  •  Layout and assembly of piping for steam, condensate, hydronic and process piping
  • Position and fabricate pipe hangers or pipe hanging systems for project
  • Take measurements and lay out piping segments for fabrication on site or in shop as applicable
  • Ability to read drawings for jobs with specifications and layout a design build project
  • Order ahead, materials applicable to the type of system, to ensure consistent workflow on site/shop
  • Assign job tasks to others on job site
  • Expected to work ON the project (i.e., turn wrenches) as much as possible
  • Communicate with project manager regularly
  • Willing to train on site, others within the company in pipefitting trade

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience in the trade
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Jurisdictional license or willing to pursue
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
